Abstract
The Spanish Network in Biomechanics Research comes out with the purpose of encouraging and maintaining the collaboration among the different Spanish research groups in Biomechanics. As in its previous edition (DPI2014-51763-REDT), the Network will be directly linked to the European Society of Biomechanics (ESB) and the Spanish National Chapter of the European Society of Biomechanics (CAP-ESB), what will boost the Network both at the national and international levels. The proposed Network is composed of 10 Spanish research groups in Biomechanics (Barcelona, Madrid, Zaragoza, Valencia, Sevilla, Badajoz, Castellón and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria), but other national research groups will be directly linked to the Network as well. The most important activity that is proposed to be organized by the Network is an Annual Meeting, which will promote different research activities and contribute to the advance in the knowledge within the Biomechanics field. The Annual Meeting will be an excellent communication forum in which the different research groups will present their latest progresses by encouraging the presence of their youngest researchers. Moreover, we aim to establish several discussion forums between engineers and physicians and hospitals, since they are well aware of society’s needs in this field. But also, we will favour forums between the Network and industry, as they are able to develop the products that society demands. Our research groups are the link among both areas and we own the tools that will allow all of us to advance in the knowledge. We aim to organize other activities such as the creation of a Network website, a symposium for presenting research projects, interdisciplinary scientific seminars, and also to establish connections with other international networks and societies in the area of Biomechanics.
